Carestream Dental - The Transition from Trophy, to Kodak to Carestream

The transition from Trophy to Kodak to Carestream is a story of mergers, acquisitions, and rebranding in the dental imaging industry.

Trophy, founded in France in 1967, was one of the early pioneers in digital dental imaging. In 2004, Kodak acquired Trophy to expand its portfolio of dental imaging solutions. At the time, Kodak was a well-known brand in the dental industry, offering a range of dental products such as X-ray film, chemicals, and equipment.

Kodak continued to develop and market dental imaging products under the Trophy brand for several years. In 2007, Kodak introduced the Kodak Dental Imaging System, which integrated Trophy's technology with Kodak's expertise in digital imaging. The system offered dentists a complete digital workflow for capturing, viewing, and managing patient images.

As part of its restructuring, in 2012 Kodak sold its dental imaging business to Onex Corporation. Onex rebranded the business as Carestream Dental and continued to offer a range of dental imaging solutions under this new brand.

Today, Carestream Dental is a leading provider of digital imaging and software solutions for the dental industry, offering products such as intraoral and extraoral imaging systems, 3D imaging systems, and imaging software. While the Trophy and Kodak brands are no longer used in the dental industry, their legacy lives on through Carestream Dental's innovative imaging solutions.
